About the Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organisation of lay people in the Catholic Church. It was founded in Dublin, Ireland, in 1921, by Frank Duff. Branches of the Legion can be found in nearly 200 countries, with over 10 million volunteer members. The Legion of Mary is spread throughout Malta and Gozo. The Tessera represents the Legion's spirit and purpose, while the standard of the Legion is the Vexillum Legionis, which is adorned by the dove representing the Holy Spirit.
